Professor of New Work · Expert in Family Businesses

Work is changing.
I research how.
And guide the transition.

I head the Institute for New Work at Bern University of Applied Sciences and research family businesses and the future of work. I love to think, to take questions apart and look at them from every angle. But what matters more to me than the analysis is the impulse that moves something, and the result that truly changes things: in companies, on stage, in supervisory boards.

Diversity as method

«Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?» — «That depends a good deal on where you want to get to», said the Cat.
Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland

My academic path is a diverse one: graduate business lawyer, B.A./M.A. in literature, culture and media studies, doctorate and habilitation in business administration. My academic career took me through the University of Siegen and the University of Bern before I joined Bern University of Applied Sciences as a professor in 2021.

I live in Cologne and Bern and believe in real encounters. You will often find me with headphones on, listening to the latest podcast, or with a book in hand, usually with a smile on my face.
